What’s RCDC All About?

Two post war developments turned Rainelle, West Virginia, from a booming town to another place headed to oblivion.  The Meadow River Lumber Company, once the world’s largest sawmill, sold to Georgia Pacific who closed the mill.  And the Interstate Highway 64, engineered to follow U. S. 60 near Rainelle, was diverted 20 miles south.

Now, many people are working together to reinvent the Town as a regional shopping center, outdoor recreation Mecca, renewable energy demonstration project, and as once again an excellent place to live, work, play, raise a family, and retire.

The Rainelle Community Development Corporation was organized in July 2011 to serve as the charitable and philanthropic nonprofit organization devoted to assisting in revitalization of the Town of Rainelle, West Virginia, and indeed the larger community including Western Greenbrier County and Eastern Fayette County.  As a 501C3 organization, the Rainelle Community Development Corporation supplements the work of government, education, business, civic and religious organizations.
